PARIS, DECEMBER 34, 2016: (DGW) NIGERIA'S former Foreign Minister, Ambassador Aminu Wali, has joined forces with other critics who are faulting Buhari's anti-corruption fight.
He made the disclosure in an interview with Daily Sun newspapers published on December 24, 2016
While answering questions on national issues, the Ambassador touched on many sensitive issues and problems the present administration of Muhammadu Buhari is battling.
He said although he is not happy that Nigerians are suffering under the present administration but he appreciate what many people are passing through especially voters in the northwest who voted for Buhari out of ethnicity and religion adding that on the day of the presidential election when he stood in the queue to vote for Jonathan, he feared for his life because he was looked upon as an unbeliever for voting for Jonathan because they had been so brainwashed that voting for Jonathan amounted to blasphemy.

As luck would have it, the election had come and gone and what they had hoped for is not forthcoming which, above all, will serve as an eye-opener that politics is not about religion and ethnicity.

On corruption and anti-graft fight, he said it is unfortunate the government does not do what he preaches adding that Buhari launched a campaign ''Change begins with me'' but unfortunately, he has not lived up to that ideal by fighting corruption commencing from the corrupt members of his government.
Below is an extract from the interview granted by the ambassador to the Daily Sun.
Excerpt:
A lot of people have argued that we want the anti -graft fight to also target APC State governors and government that had supported the APC Presidential bid in 2015. What is your take on this?
He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. The administration is fighting but within its fold, there are those that are believed to be corrupt and therefore, they lack the moral authority to fight corruption or go to any other person.  Look into yourself. And just like they told us, “change begins with you.”  The fight against corruption begins with you inside your administration before you now move out to others. So if there were allegations that within the government and that within the ruling party there were those people that were being accused of one thing or the other, these accusations should not be ignored. That is why a lot of people are saying that the fight against corruption is being selective. So that really gives less legitimacy to the efforts at fighting corruption.
